God’s Love Shines Through You

As Christians we live to worship God and therefore the way we care is an act of worship in our workplace. We know what an immense privilege it is to care for someone. It’s a joy, a calling, and a responsibility that we need the Lord’s wisdom and guidance for in every moment. We desire to see the love of Jesus transform the lives of those in our care and those we work with. How can we do this?

By being prayerful and deeply dependent upon the Holy Spirit. He is already working through us and has the power to do what we cannot. He can open eyes, soften hearts, and give us the wisdom and discernment in every circumstance. It is his power to save. We have the amazing privilege to partner in the work that God is already doing in his world.

By listening well and living well for Jesus. As we take an interest in the lives of others, they will see something of the compassion and kindness of Jesus in us. Taking time to read God’s word, pray and listen to him in our own lives will naturally overflow out into our daily life.

By equipping ourselves to be ready to give an answer for the hope we have. There are many opportunities to be resourced for evangelistic outreach and discipleship. Let’s make the most of it! We can prepare ourselves ahead of time by giving thought to key issues and topics which may help us in our conversations with those in our workplace. We may be the only Bible that someone reads. Let us be wholly reliant upon our gracious and compassionate God, who can do immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).

Beyond My Background: Jesus Changed Everything

When people hear that I became a Christian after being raised in a Hindu family, one of the first things they ask is, “How did that happen?” The answer is simple: I was searching, but all along, Jesus was pursuing me.

I was born into a Hindu family where religion, culture and identity were deeply intertwined. We believed in many things, but I came to realise that belief and faith are not the same. Belief can be inherited; faith is born through knowing God personally. Although I was surrounded by religious traditions, there was still an emptiness within me. Deep inside, I was searching for truth, for purpose and for a relationship with the One who created me. From a young age, I asked questions. I wanted to understand who God was, why we were here, and what the purpose of life really was. The answers I received never satisfied the longing in my heart. There always seemed to be something missing. I couldn't ignore the feeling that I was made for more than rituals and traditions. I was searching for truth, even though I didn't yet know what that truth looked like.

As I grew older, that emptiness became harder to ignore. Life brought its own challenges, and eventually I reached what I can only describe as rock bottom. Everything I had relied upon seemed to crumble. Yet it was there, in the darkest place of my life, that I discovered something extraordinary. The Rock at the bottom was Jesus Christ. He met me not because I had earned it, but because He loved me. He had seen me all along. I had a personal encounter with Him that changed my life forever. In that moment, Christianity stopped being something I had heard about and became a relationship with the living God. I surrendered my life to Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. He brought peace where there had been confusion, purpose where there had been emptiness, and hope where there had been despair.

He also healed me from Crohn's disease, a condition I had lived with for years. It was described as incurable, and for so long it defined me and controlled my life. But when I surrendered everything to Jesus and placed my faith completely in Him, He healed me. That miraculous healing became part of my testimony of His goodness and His power. Yet as incredible as that miracle was, the greatest miracle was not the healing of my body, it was the transformation of my heart. I had finally found the One I had been searching for all along. Looking back, I now know that Jesus knew my story before I did. His love reached beyond my background and every barrier I thought stood between us.

That is why I want to encourage every Christian. Every day you meet people from different cultures, backgrounds, and religions. It can be easy to assume that someone would never be interested in Jesus because of where they come from or what they believe. But if God could reveal Himself to me, He can reveal Himself to anyone. Our role is not to decide whose heart God can reach. Our role is to love people well. Behind every culture is a person. Behind every religion is someone with hopes, fears, questions, disappointments, and a longing that only Christ can truly satisfy. We may never know what someone is carrying or how God is already working in their heart. So don't stop praying. Don't stop loving. Don't stop believing that God is able to do the impossible.

My story is living proof that no one is beyond the reach of God's grace. No culture is too different. No religion is too deeply rooted. No heart is too far away. Jesus is still seeking those who are searching. He has already seen them. He already knows them. Long before they recognise Him, He is lovingly drawing them to Himself. Our calling is not to change hearts, that is God's work. Our calling is to love our neighbour, pray faithfully, and be ready when He opens the door to share the hope we have in Christ.

Looking back, I realise that every storm I walked through was shaping me. I came out of each one stronger, wiser, and having learned something new. But what I understand now is that I was never walking through those storms alone. Even when I didn't know Jesus, He knew me. Even when I had no faith, He was carrying me. I had to reach rock bottom to discover that the rock beneath me had been Christ all along. If He carried me before I knew Him, imagine what He can do now that I know Him and have faith and trust in Him. That is the confidence I live with today, not because life is free from storms, but because I know the One who carries me through them. Jesus didn’t change my life; he gave me a new one.

No one is too far gone, no culture is too different, no religion is too deeply rooted, and no heart is beyond the reach of Jesus Christ. He is still calling. He is still saving. He is still transforming. And He is worthy of placing your whole faith in. Never underestimate what God can do through an ordinary conversation, an act of kindness, a faithful prayer, or a life that reflects Jesus. The same Saviour who found me is still transforming lives today; His saving grace is still reaching people today.
